A pet door Al Warqa families ask us for tends to serve a bigger household than most: villas on generous plots, gardens that are used all day, and often more than one pet — dogs in the garden, cats with the run of the house, sometimes both. Al Khawaneej, its neighbour across the greenery near Mushrif Park, is much the same: established family districts where homes open onto their land through wide sliding glass, and where a flap has to stand up to heavy, daily, multi-pet use.
Heavy use is exactly what a properly fitted flap is built for — provided it is fitted without weakening the glass or the door. Our method never cuts your original glass: the flap arrives in a panel made for your opening, and the whole fitting can be reversed without a trace. This guide explains the two routes we use in these districts, how microchip entry works for multi-pet homes, and how sizing runs up to the largest doors. Pet door Al Warqa & Al Khawaneej: two routes into villa glass
Family villas in both districts run wide sliding systems across the garden side, alongside fixed panels and garden rooms. Tempered glass cannot be cut on site, so every fitting uses one of two reversible routes — and neither asks you to sacrifice an original panel.
The sliding track insert
A made-to-measure panel slots into the track of the sliding door with the flap built into it. The door still slides and locks, your original glass is untouched, and the insert lifts out cleanly whenever you need it to. In standard white aluminium with clear glass, an insert booked before 10 AM can be fitted the same day — our teams work across Dubai daily, and both districts are on the daily route. For frames in bronze, charcoal or another finish, custom RAL powder-coating matches the panel; allow two to three days for that finish before the fitting.
The replacement glass panel
For fixed panels and the most built-in finish, we fabricate a new tempered glass unit with the flap opening formed before tempering, fit the flap, and swap the finished unit for your original panel. The original comes out whole and is stored safely, and swapping it back takes around 30 minutes — worth knowing in districts where many villas are family homes held for the long term as well as rentals.
Multi-pet households: keeping your animals in and others out
Where several pets share one flap, selective entry stops being a luxury. SureFlap and PetSafe microchip models read each pet’s own 15-digit ISO FDX-B vet chip and unlock only for the animals registered to the flap, so your dogs and cats come and go while the neighbourhood’s cats — and Al Warqa and Al Khawaneej have plenty — stay outside. If a simple manual flap suits the household better, Closer Pets makes a four-way locking model that can be set to in-only, out-only, both ways or fully locked, useful for keeping pets in at night. Whichever route you choose, one flap can serve the whole household when it is sized for the largest animal using it.

Sizing up to the largest doors
Big plots suit big dogs, and these districts have them. Our dog doors run Medium 23 × 35 cm, Large 28 × 45 cm and XL 36 × 65 cm. Measure chest width and shoulder height on the largest pet that will use the flap and choose the size that clears both; if the dog is between sizes, go up one. Cats over 4 kg are more comfortable in a Large flap than a standard cat flap — and in a shared doorway, the cats will use the dog-sized door happily. Hakuna Pets dog doors, with magnetic seals that close firmly behind the pet, are built for exactly this kind of heavy family traffic. Sealing matters out here too: brush and rubber seals around the panel keep the air conditioning in and the dust out through the summer. One honest limit: on tinted or reflective glass we match shades as closely as fabrication allows, but a 100% identical shade cannot be guaranteed.
Frequently asked questions
Can one flap serve both my dogs and my cats?
Yes, provided it is sized for the largest animal. A microchip model can register every pet in the household, and smaller pets use a dog-sized door without any difficulty.
Can a pet door be fitted in a rented Al Warqa or Al Khawaneej villa?
Yes. The insert route leaves the original glass untouched and the panel route stores it whole, with a swap-back of around 30 minutes and no landlord NOC needed for the standard glass routes.
How do I stop other cats in the district coming in?
Choose a microchip flap. It reads only your pets’ registered vet chips and stays locked to every other animal, which is the dependable fix in cat-friendly villa districts.
What size does a German shepherd or similar large breed need?
Usually the XL at 36 × 65 cm. Send us your dog’s chest width and shoulder height and we will confirm the size before anything is fabricated.
How quickly can a standard insert be fitted?
Booked before 10 AM in standard white aluminium with clear glass, the same day. Colour-matched powder-coating takes two to three days before the fitting visit.
Book an Al Warqa or Al Khawaneej fitting
Send us a photo of the door and your pets’ measurements on WhatsApp 0524432655 or email admin@petdoorfix.com, and we will confirm the route, the finish and the fitting day. A pet door Al Warqa and Al Khawaneej families can rely on has to survive the whole household, every day — that is the standard we fit to in both districts.
