Pet Doors in Tilal City & Al Zahia: Sharjah’s New Villa Communities

Tilal City and Al Zahia have changed what a Sharjah home looks like: wide plots, landscaped gardens and floor-to-ceiling patio glass that was designed for the view, not for a dog who wants to be on the other side of it. For pet door installation Sharjah’s newest communities are in one way the straightforward case: generous openings, standardised tracks and gardens that were designed to be used daily. If your family has moved into one of these new villa communities with a pet, pet door installation in Sharjah is how the garden becomes part of your pet’s day instead of something they watch through glass — without cutting the patio doors your villa came with.

Why new-build villa glass needs a planned fitting

The sliding systems fitted across Tilal City, Al Zahia and the villa streets of Aljada are modern double-glazed units. That glass is tempered, which means it cannot be cut on site: try, and the whole pane fails. A pet door in this kind of home is therefore never a hole cut into your existing door. It is one of two made-to-measure routes — a sliding insert that sits in the existing track, or a factory-made replacement panel built with the flap already fitted.

Both routes leave your original glass untouched and intact. That matters in new communities whether you own or rent, because the sliding doors are part of the villa’s finished specification, and replacing a damaged full-height unit is a far bigger job than fitting a pet door properly in the first place.

Pet door installation Sharjah: how the scheduled fitting works

Sharjah fittings run on a scheduled weekly route, which suits planned work in the new communities. The process has four stages:

Step 1 — WhatsApp photos. Send us clear photos of your patio doors, the track they run in, and your pet standing beside the door for scale. From those we can usually tell which route suits your villa and which flap size your pet needs.

Step 2 — Measurement on the scheduled visit. Our team visits on the weekly Sharjah run to measure the exact panel or track dimensions. New-build systems look standard but vary between phases and developers, so nothing is fabricated from a guess.

Step 3 — Fabrication. Inserts are built to your track; replacement panels are made in the factory as complete tempered units with the flap fitted before the glass is sealed.

Step 4 — Fitting. On the fitting visit, the insert is set into the track or the replacement panel is swapped in, your original glass is stored safely, and your pet gets a supervised first trip through the flap.

Insert or replacement panel: choosing for your villa

A sliding insert is a slim aluminium-framed panel carrying the flap, built to sit inside your existing sliding track. As standard it comes in white aluminium with clear glass; if your villa’s frames are a different colour, the insert can be powder-coated to a custom RAL shade to match, which takes 2–3 days. Inserts suit most patio sliders and are completely removable.

A replacement panel is the route for fixed glass and single openable doors that have no spare track. We fabricate a new tempered double-glazed unit with the flap fitted, remove your original unit and store it, and install the new one. Many Tilal City and Al Zahia villas end up with a combination: an insert on the main patio slider and a replacement panel where the garden door is a fixed pane.

Sizing for family dogs — and the cats who share the house

Villa communities mean family dogs, and sizing is where pet doors succeed or fail. Our dog door sizes are Medium at 23×35 cm, Large at 28×45 cm and X-Large at 36×65 cm. Medium suits smaller, stocky breeds such as Shih Tzus and Poodles; Large suits mid-sized dogs such as Beagles and Pointers; X-Large is for Labradors, Golden Retrievers, Huskies and similar big breeds. We confirm the size against your dog’s shoulder height and chest width at the photo stage, because a flap a dog has to duck and squeeze through is a flap it will stop using.

Cats sharing the villa get their own rule: any cat over 4 kg needs a Large flap, which covers most British Shorthairs, Ragdolls and Maine Coons. Where stray cats patrol the community, a microchip flap from SureFlap or PetSafe on the cat’s route keeps the house private while the dog uses a larger magnetic-seal door from Hakuna Pets or PetSafe.

Frequently asked questions

I rent my villa in Tilal City. Can I still have a pet door fitted?

Yes. Neither route cuts your original glass: inserts lift out of the track, and replacement panels are swapped back with your stored original glass in about 30 minutes when you move out. No landlord NOC is needed, and the villa hands back exactly as it was handed over.

Will a pet door spoil the look of my patio glass?

It shouldn’t. Inserts can be powder-coated to a custom RAL shade matching your frames, and replacement panels are made to the same dimensions as the originals. One honest exception: if your villa has reflective or tinted glass, we offer the closest matching options available, but an exact shade match cannot be guaranteed 100%, because developers sourced their glass from different suppliers.

What size does a Labrador need?

X-Large, at 36×65 cm. Large breeds are exactly why genuine XL doors with sturdy frames exist — forcing a big dog through a smaller flap is uncomfortable for the dog and hard on the flap.

How does booking work in Sharjah?

Message us on WhatsApp with photos first. Measurement and fitting then happen on our scheduled weekly Sharjah visits, so most villa fittings are planned a few days ahead rather than booked at the last minute.

Can one fitting serve both my dog and my cat?

Often, yes — if the cat is happy using the dog’s flap and it is sized sensibly. Where the dog’s door is very large or strays are a problem, a separate smaller flap for the cat is usually the better arrangement, and we will advise honestly from your photos.
